Simply choose the holiday which interests you most and let us know. We’ll then email or call you to discuss the suitability of the booking and your requirements in greater detail. Information and pricing for each holiday can be found in the holidays section or are detailed in our brochure
Your level of support will be determined by our staff at your home visit (or remote assessment if distance makes a visit impractical), and then re-assessed after every holiday you may take with us. Very broadly speaking, if you are fully mobile and need just limited support with personal care you will be on our standard care package of 3 guests to 1 member of staff. People needing a higher degree of support with their personal care, or those with mobility issues will usually require our 1-to-1 care plan.
3:1 is the lowest ratio of care we provide, but we can arrange for higher levels of care if required. Ratios of 1.5 or 2 members of staff per guest can be quoted for on request.
Everything. Well, pretty much. Full board accommodation, activities, extrance fees, home visit, transportation from one of our pick up points (see below) and all necessary care at a maximum 3-to-1 staffing level. We just recommend you bring enough to cover any gifts, souvenirs and extra snacks & drinks outside the main meals.
For UK holidays, we recommend (but do not require) that you take out travel insurance that includes cancellation cover and protection for your belongings. Travel insurance is compulsory for all holidays abroad.
Please note that we are unable to arrange or sell travel insurance ourselves.
For UK holidays we ask for a £50 deposit within 2 weeks to confirm the booking. The balance is then due 4 weeks before the holiday begins.
For abroad holidays it is a £200 deposit and the balance is due 8 weeks before the holiday begins.
Mostly at ‘The Conifers’, our parent charity’s guesthouse on the outskirts of Scarborough. The former convent has been fully renovated and adapted to cater for all your needs. It is within a stones-throw from the beach, the vibrant tourist centre and just a short drive away from the magnificent Yorkshire Moors. For our holidays in various other locations around the UK and Europe we book private accommodation, suitable for the needs of our guests. We use hotels, guesthouses and city apartments, but favour self-catering villas where possible.
The holiday price includes transportation from one of our three meeting points in the North West of England:
– (New) Chrysalis Office, St Ambrose Barlow House, Manchester Road, Astley, M29 7DZ
– Lymm Services, M6/M56 intersection, WA13 0SP
– Birch Services, M62 J18-19, OL10 2RB.
We can stop along our natural route if you would like to arrange a convenient meeting point with us, and we can always meet you at the chosen holiday venue (or airport/docks for international holidays). If you would prefer a door-to-door service from home, no problem, but this is charged at £55 per person within a 20 mile radius from the Chrysalis office in Astley. Outside this area, pick-up prices are calculated at 65p per mile from the office (remember it is two return journeys for our driver). If an escort or second driver is required, the cost will increase accordingly. Discounts are available to customers travelling from the same address.
You will be sent pick up and drop off times in your ‘Holiday Information Booklet’ which you will receive approximately 3 weeks before your holiday. We will also ring about 5 days before your holiday to double check you are happy with the arrangements. As a rough guide, for UK holidays, you will be picked up around lunchtime and dropped off mid-afternoon. For abroad holidays, times are varied and dependent on flight or ferry bookings.
Our holidays are fully inclusive of everything so in theory no spending money is required. We do however recommend you bring about £10-15 per day to cover any souvenirs, drinks & snacks (outside the main meals), or gifts you may wish to purchase.
Yes, all staff are subject to an enhanced DBS check before working for our company.
Staff are fully trained from the outset in areas such as Safeguarding, Administration of Medication, Managing Challenging Behaviour & Food Hygiene. Staff are also supported to further their training and eduction through level 3-7 NVQ qualifications.
Our own guesthouse in Scarborough where most of our themed holidays take place, is fully adapted with widened doors, full downstairs accommodation, 3 ground floor bedrooms and wet room.
Other accommodations that we book include a specialist disability hotel in Blackpool and various adapted self-catering properties. Contact the office to find out which holiday accommodations are suitable for your needs.
You are welcome to bring your own carer but we charge the carer 40% of the standard holiday price to cover our loss of available bed space and to cover expenses.
Due to differing expectations in the past, we continue to staff the holiday with our own staff at normal levels.
